What are the two programs Fun2Hoop offers?
- Summer Tune-Up Series (starting June 30): A skill-building program for experienced players (ages 12–17) preparing for school tryouts or looking to take their game to the next level.
- Fundamentals Program (start date TBD): For newer players (ages 6–11) who want to build confidence, learn the basics, and develop a strong foundation.
Who is each program for?
- Summer Tune-Up Series: Players who already have experience playing organized basketball or who plan to try out for their school teams.
- Fundamentals Program: Beginners or players with limited experience who want to learn how to play the right way, step by step.
Where are the sessions held?
All sessions for both programs are held at the Southside Community Center in Ithaca.
When do the sessions take place?
- Summer Tune-Up Series: Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, from June 30 to August 20.
- Fundamentals Program: Start date and schedule coming soon.
Can we sign up for just one day per week?
- Summer Tune-Up Series: Yes, we’re flexible. While both days are encouraged, players can opt for one day per week if needed.
- Fundamentals Program: Likely once a week. Final schedule will be confirmed once registration opens.
How much does it cost?
- Summer Tune-Up Series: $275 for 16 sessions over 8 weeks. The first class is FREE with no obligation.
- Fundamentals Program: Pricing will be announced once the schedule is confirmed. The first session will also be free.
Is this a league with games?
- Neither program is a league.
They are development-focused, designed to improve skills, confidence, and game IQ.
Is it for boys or girls?
Both programs are co-ed and welcome to all youth interested in learning or improving their basketball skills.
What does a typical session look like?
- Summer Tune-Up Series: Warm-ups, skill stations, defensive & offensive concepts, court awareness, basketball-specific conditioning, and mindset work.
- Fundamentals Program: Fun, high-energy learning through drills and games to teach dribbling, passing, shooting, movement, and teamwork.
What if my child misses a session?
Both programs: We understand that life happens, but makeup sessions are not guaranteed, and we do not offer refunds for missed classes.
Can parents watch?
Yes! Parents are welcome and encouraged to watch, as long as space allows. The Southside gym has limited seating, so we ask for understanding if it gets crowded. If your child feels more comfortable focusing without a parent present, we kindly ask that you support their preference.
What should players bring?
Both programs: A water bottle, clean indoor basketball shoes, and a great attitude! Balls and other equipment will be provided.
Who leads the program?
Both programs are led by Marco Volcy, a former college and pro basketball player, coach, and youth mentor with over 10 years of experience helping young athletes grow on and off the court.
